Alpha version revealed! (and now named too!)

the alpha of the game i am making is going to be titled:

"The adventures of Megaben, Mat=man and The UltraTwinkie"

and its slated for release sometime over the next month, (i've been busy pretending to work and stuff alot recently)

so...discuss!

what with making the new website, and making more additions to the game, i havent had much time for updates, so just so you know, there'll be one soonish :D

Megaben Gaming Co. website off the ground!

Megaben Gaming Co. has a new website - its all under construction right now, but soon everything from here will be added and updated onto the site, along with (finally) the Alpha version of the game! (DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN!!!!) its a free one at the moment, but the website URL's subject to change at the moment, as soon as megaben.net/megaben.co.uk/megaben.com becomes available.

check it out, i'm in the process of making it now! :o

town gardens, more NPC's and an attempt at making you feel stuff...

adding in some "beautification" to the starting town with a garden and some water and fountains and stuff...
and also added in some NPC's (in this case an elderly couple, no RPG is complete without an elderly couple!)

an old man with his health problems....


and his faithful wife.

rightio, time to make a to-do list to get this on track...

1. finish starting town thingy and name it, and the land this is based in.
2. add in the rest of the characters i intended to add into the game.
3. plan out and actually make atleast a part of a large scale map with towns and area's to explore.
4. work out exactly where this game is going and what the story's going to be, (or just find a way to string together the plot points and quests i've already got in the back of my head)
5. get the rest of the alpha/demo done so i can release what i've done to the public so they can run through what i've done and check for bugs/spelling mistakes
6. get hosting website up and running (before the planned demo or i'll have to find another site to dispense it from)
7. find myself an actual good artist to help with some of the sprite designs.

thats all i can think of right now off the top of my head, but thats more than enough to keep me busy for the next week or so, and hopefully everything will work out fine and no complications will decide to show their ugly heads....

*note* shoop da whoop! 400 or so hits on this in the space of around 3 days....and i never really thought anyone would even be that interested in this at all! :o

so talks are currently on-going with a few peeps...

currently i'm having talks with l4arge.com to let me host megaben.net on their free servers, and hopefully if all goes to plan, then i'll be able to host this blog on it, get more revenue from the advertisments, draw in more people to view the site with google, and have somewhere to host any game demo's or announce any Alpha testing that i plan on doing.

so yeah, hopefully this'll all take off soonish and be totally awesome :D

time to Bank'n'Spank!

finished off the majoritory of the bank now, although more is planned, including some more colourful NPC's like the bank clerk:


and a couple bank guards too!

just a few finishing touches to make to a few shops, then some new killer characters and an awesome early on STORY EVENT AND PLOT POINTS!

also....

i've created a little tech demo type thing of the starting area, which is an un-named town right now with garys, mats, charlottes and emilys houses in...a shop and bank are on their way to being completed, but other than that i'm kinda short of idea's on what else would need to go into the town...if you have any idea's feel free to comment this, or if theres anything at all you'd want added to the game(I.E. if you feel a bit left out, or even annoyed because your in it, feel free to rant and rave in the comments, if your complaining, that i'll be sure to totally ignore what your complaining about :p BECAUSE I CAN!)

so....

i've just totally noticed that Mat's character, if you see him from behind looks like he's kinda wearing a skirt...oh i'm sure he wont mind TOO much LOL

So Emily's got herself a nice little house now :D

Emily's intro is now added into the game, complete with house and everything, only a couple people left to add into it now though so it wont be long til i start to make the story and everything will start to unfold...*queue mystery music here*
Hopefully Emily'll like this :p she is prone to randomly "falling" all over the place and "accidently" hitting people nearby....i might try and keep my distance for a bit til she forgets if she doesnt like it :D

Charlottes now been given the "ben" treatment ;)

So charlottes been added into the game now, and she's now got an intro and a house to call her own...she spends her spare time going on crazy adventures, or trying to recruit Emily into her Warrior Lesbien ClubHouse....trpical charlotte i guess :p
(hopfully i wont get beaten up too much by charlotte for doing this...if i dont post again,
 it means charlotte got me)

Mat's house completed! :o

finished a few things to do with mat's house at the start of the game, he has his own intro running now, and even has his own final fantasy based sound track from one of the games, if i could find a copy of the song to upload i would, but still a photo will have to suffice, for now you'll have to pretend you can mat playing the piano version of a classic final fantasy tune.
stay tuned to see who gets the next ingame treatment :)

so now its the weekend

hoping to get some more of the game done :D other than the fact that its the weekend i havent had enough time to do anything more to the game yet, but on another note, i need some animations done for it too which would mean finding someone who can draw! QQ

hopefully planning on getting quite a bit done this weekend though, so watch this space!

first test dungeon and first boss!

the first test dungeon design is complete, with battles and leveling up done:
 aswell as what can only be described as "in-jokes" that probably only a few people will understand (everyone else would probably just find it all weird :p)

 the first boss fight is also included now, even though his face is hard to take seriously.
 also in-game transport has been included for travelling off to distant lands in search of more treasure and baddies to battle! first is the little row boat, that cant leave the shallow waters,
and then there's the bigger sail boat that can go anywhere in shallow and deep water
 there's also the airship that can go anywhere on land or sea, shown in a previous blog.

new content already done!

 new content already done is the new(ish) battling system, similar to old final fantasy games, as soon as more artworks done it'll be updated to include player animations.

 and aswell as monsters theres also player powers been done aswell.
and some final fantasy fans might already tell whats going on here....the rest'll be up to your imaginations asto what else might be arriving in the near future!

So i've started work on this game project, figure this would be one of the quickest ways to get everyone to know about it.



so far i've got a few designs done, and nearly finished a tech demo that i'm planning on being made public at some point to show it all off,

this tech demo will feature:
an interactive world,
towns and villages
"colourful" NPC's for you to interact with,
fully functional shops and what-not for you to shop in (funny looking shopkeeper included! :o


also to include loads more, but as this is all being done in my spare time it'll be in bits and pieces, soon to be included in this tech demo will be the 1st dungeon level, lots of cool loot and a rather hilarious boss battle.

hopefully if everything goes according to plan i'll have this all pushed through the door by the end of the week, so keep an eye out for future updates!
